Was ready to give up on Mail (thought the problem was large number (40,000+) of emails with lots of attachments). Thanks for the update.

  6. Hi Chris,

I just installed Letter Opener on my mail program on an OS 10.5.6. When I opened mail with the Letter Opener installed, then opened the email with the windat file, the request to license Letter Opener was at the top of the mail, but the windat file was no longer in the email, nor was if visible on the desktop that I could see.

  7. Hi Randy,

if you see the header you already see the converted content of the winmail.dat file.

Now you can over View Menu -> Message -> Plain Text Alternative/Best Alternative switch Letter Opener on/off to see how it would look liked without.

Many winmail.dat files are just the mail message text in rich text format (RTF) and don’t contain any other attachments.
